Calamitous cats! We’ve reached $50,000 within 4 hours thanks to your amazing support!

Stretch Goals Unlocked

You’ve unlocked another two stretch goals—one we didn’t even have time to introduce!

Firstly, you unlocked the Swampland Map! Everyone who has backed for at least $20 will get a digital PDF of the map, and everyone who gets the Vagabond’s Satchel will get a physical copy as well!

Secondly, you unlocked the Eyrie Dynasties dice! This is a new pair of regal blue dice featuring the face of a bluejay, and they’ll be automatically added to the Vagabond’s Satchel!

Upcoming Stretch Goals

If we reach $60,000, we’ll unlock a new digital clearing—Limmery Post! Limmery Post was developed from an outpost on the farthest edges of an old empire. The Post was meant to be a boundary that outsiders would have to cross through before reaching the rest of the Woodland, and its rabbit denizens have inherited some of that xenophobia. But the Post remains a well-fortified clearing, perfect for a new Woodland Alliance base—and maybe, with the help of some enterprising vagabonds, the Alliance’s leaders can convince the denizens of Limmery to side with them… This clearing will be available as a PDF for everyone who backs at the $20 level or higher!

Raving raccoons! You’re knocking out our stretch goals faster than we can post them!

Stretch Goals Unlocked

First up, you unlocked the Limmery Post digital clearing! Everyone who backs for at least $20 will get the full PDF of this pre-made clearing to provide an easy one-shot session, or to help out GMs who just need a clearing ready to go!

Second up, you unlocked the Coolclaw Mine digital clearing! We didn’t get to introduce this to you! Here’s a description: Coolclaw Mine is a clearing sprung up around the profitable iron mine that dips under the nearby mountains. Coolclaw Mine is one of the Woodland’s most successful and lucrative mines, so it’s no wonder the Marquisate sent a whole platoon of soldiers there almost immediately. But the Eyrie Dynasties know its value, too, and are poised to launch an attack to take it back. The denizens of Coolclaw are about to be caught in the crossfire of a real battle, and they can’t agree on what to do!

Coolclaw Mine is now unlocked and available to everyone who backed at least $20!

Upcoming Stretch Goals

If we reach $80,000, we’ll unlock the Redwoods Map—a new map, both in digital form and physically added to the Vagabond’s Satchel! This time, the map will provide a version of the Woodland dominated by enormous, gigantic trees for you to flesh out for your campaign! The physical map will be the same form factor as the other maps, a laminated 8.5” x 11” sheet, and will automatically be added to the pledge of everyone getting the Vagabond’s Satchel!

Bewildering woodlands! You did it! You blew through our initial goal like so much woodland brush! The strongest soldiers of the Marquisate could not stand before your might!

(All of the updates are going to be as full of woodlandy descriptions as this, prepare yourselves.)

Funded!

The project is fully funded at $10,000! That’s incredible! We’re so grateful for the outpouring of support you’ve all shown us!

It was only a little more than a year ago that we first played the Root board game, absolutely LOVED it, and came to realize that we would also love to bring the stories of Root to the roleplaying game table. And now here we are thanks to all of you, getting ready to do just that with gorgeous books!

What's next?

Of course our journey has only just begun! We’ve got plenty of stretch goals lined up for you. Our first two are fully-fleshed out clearings complete with interesting settings and characters—perfect for one-shots or for those times when the GM is looking for some guidance or help in setting up a situation. They’ll be available in PDF to everyone who backed for at least the $20 level!

First up is Hookfoot Bog! A fully fleshed out ready-to-use clearing set-up, complete with NPCs, problems, secrets, and rewards! In this case: Hookfoot Bog, a clearing built upon a swampy marsh in the Woodland! Hookfoot Bog has always been a hard place of hard mice, with families that go back a long time and won’t ever be moving. How will they deal with the change that the Marquisate brings to their home? New machines threaten the Hookfoot way of life, but the young may not view them as negatively as the older generations… This clearing will be available as a PDF for everyone who backs at the $20 level or higher!

Next is Sixclaw’s Stand, a clearing named for the famous fox hero Keylan Sixclaw, the vixen who defended her people from an entire army of wolves! Or so the story goes, anyway. The folk of Sixclaw see themselves as inheritors of legend, and all are ready to throw in their lot with the factions at war in the Woodland—they just don’t agree on which faction! This clearing will be available as a PDF for everyone who backs at the $20 level or higher!

And after Hookfoot’s Bog and Sixclaw’s Stand, we have still more to share, so stay tuned!
